Gaeun Kim (they/them) is an artist who works in clay and metal. They are currently pursuing an MFA in 3D4M: Ceramics + Glass + Sculpture at the University of Washington (expected graduation: 2027). Kim received their BFA in Ceramics and Interactive Arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA). Born and raised in Seoul, Korea, Kim grew up amid rapid urban development and gentrification—experiences that continue to inform their work. Their recent body of work explores themes of absence, landscape of urban reconstruction, and belonging through sculptural objects and installations.
